Life...sometimes

I am a strand of silvery substance, neither liquid nor gas...

I hate being so damn forgetful...I forgot my basketball after our Tuesday game and I just realized it right now. I had already lost a ball earlier in the year...but luckily, I got hooked up through this church league I played in for a TF-1000 for pretty cheap. I e-mailed the commish of the league, just to see if someone picked it up...and thank God, someone did. There are good people out there...and they're not after your balls, he he he. But anyway, I digress...I think my forgetfulness gets me into trouble at times. I can only imagine what frustration people go through when someone always forgets stuff, events, dates, etc. And I wish I could help it, but how could I? It would definitely be on the top of my list if there were like 10 things we could get rid of to improve ourselves...but unfortunately, such a thing does not exist. I'm glad I have patient and understanding people around me...he he he...THANKS BEEB :)

Girls Next Door
Anyone hear about this new reality show? It's about Hugh Hefner and 3 playmates(?) I think. Well for sure it's about Hef and there are these 3 girls, and it's some kind of reality show...what exactly they do, I have no idea. Probably have playmate parties at the mansion, where they just wear their undies(damn you Hef!), and just hang around. I think it's kind of a reach as far as a reality show is concerned, but hey...money and cleavage talks...

That last topic kinda segues into my next...the Future...
Sometimes I get really sad and scared because I just think that the future of our kind is headed towards it's doom. And it's not MY future that I fear...it's that of my kids and grandkids(should I be graced with any).
25-50 years ago:
I wasn't around yet, but there were certainly huge things going on. We were dealing with both World Wars, the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam. Civil Rights was one of the major issues of the day and not everyone was equal. Opportunity did not knock on your door unless you were white, yet America was still seen as the land of opportunity. My parents were still dreaming to one day arrive here and raise their family(which they would eventually do), along w/ most of my friends and family. Technology was definitely not as advanced as it was now, but there was the radio, and the TV show. Imagination played a big part in entertainment, such as the War of the Worlds radio broadcast. People had to dream up what they were hearing, not force-fed someone's interpretation of it(See Lou's Entry titled "Take on me" for his own thoughts about imagination and technology.
Today
Now, there IS no World War really to think about. What we have to think about now is the fact that any day, there could be another terrorist attack, whether you are on a plane, on a bus, on a subway, or anything. That the threat of attack is just as bad as the attack itself. That there are people out there who prey on their victims with fear...and it works. The environment is steadily getting worse and worse. Overpopulation and environmental resources are major major issues. We have to keep in mind that there are those out there on the roads that may actually try to kill you...because you got in their way. Technology is at a golden age, where seemingly everything that was once "impossible" is already available. Imagination has had it's legs cut off, and pretty much accessible to the relatively few books and other artistic expressions. We are given visualizations rather than coming up w/ our own, everything on TV is a reality show...even though these things aren't REALISTIC. Even songs have relatively no meaning nowadays, and new beats are few and far between. Sit-coms of the 80's and 90's are pretty much obsolete.

Does it seem like we have improved? In some ways yes...but in a lot of ways, no. I contemplate the type of life our children are gonna have...and I have to admit I am sometimes dismayed...

Well to avoid from being TOTALLY negative...
